Eli’s Cheesecake was created by famous restaurateur Eli Schulman for the celebrity clientele at his Chicago steakhouse, Eli’s The Place For Steak. Eli launched his dessert outside the restaurant by taking a booth at the first Taste of Chicago food festival in 1980. It was a hit! Although Eli’s has grown a lot since then, the Taste of Chicago (now America’s largest food fest) is still our favorite time of the year. You can create your own Taste of Chicago experience at home with one of our most popular desserts served at the event: Eli’s Cheesecake Smoosh, cheesecake and ice cream smooshed together.
1 scoop vanilla ice cream
1 slice Eli’s Chocolate Chip or Original Plain Cheesecake
2 tablespoons chocolate sauce
1. Place a slice of Eli’s Chocolate Chip Cheesecake on a flat plate.
2. Press a scoop of ice cream and Eli’s Cheesecake together into chunky pieces.
3. Scoop and transfer into a dessert dish.
4. Drizzle with chocolate sauce and garnish with whipped cream.
