The New Horizon Center for the Developmentally Disabled, our next door neighbor, is a not-for-profit agency that provides education and training to children and adults with severe disabilities and autism. The agency serves students and adults from the Chicago and suburban areas. Eli’s supports the center in fundraising efforts throughout the year, including a booth at our farmer’s market for the students to sell their handmade goods. Eli’s also sponsors a therapeutic gardening program at New Horizon’s. Through this program, the Chicago Botanic Gardens visit New Horizon’s once a month where they bring in flowers and gardening materials for the students to use and learn about.
